This letter was sent from "the Bastille", the prison where the Kings of France imprisoned celebrated persons who were distinguished by their call for freedom of conscience in opposition to the absolutist rulings. In it the noted Rosicrucian and historian of esoteric and initiatory movements in Europe prior to the XVIII century, the Abbot Nicolás Lenglet du Fresnoy (1674-1755), gives instructions to a friend regarding protecting their books and their private library and so that he may carry out commitments agreed to before being imprisoned.
This original and authentic document is an example of a Rosicrucian, pursued by the dictatorial and sectarian powers of old Europe, concerned for the conservation of the cultural and traditional work.
